Shepherd Consulting was born after a year of prayer and reflection by Rev Dr Darren Roorda and his wife. After years of successful leadership in several profit and non-profit sectors, the summative thoughts below arose from conversations with other Christian charitable thought leaders. They serve as the ground in which Shepherd Consulting is rooted.  

Many, many Christian professionals in the leadership world see a lack of integration of professionalism together with faith praxis in the Christian charitable sector. Lamentably, one is often forsaken for the other. Consequently, Shepherd Consulting is a resounding statement that 'Faithful Christian praxis and excellent organizational behaviours are not mutually exclusive.' They must be considered essential partners.

The Christian charitable sector has traditionally done a poor job in meeting its governmental/legal requirements. Professionalism is low amongst Christian-run charitable organizations. Consequently, this sector provides a less-than-stellar witness to the world. As a result, our government is becoming increasingly strident in regard to Christian charities, and the majority of charities that the government penalizes or shuts down are, indeed, Christian or faith-based.

Shepherd Consulting is a response to aid Christian charities in achieving excellence and becoming a better collective witness to the broader culture.

Mission suffers when leaders and leadership structures cannot align. Of all the places in the world, the Christian charity sector should provide greater room for forgiveness and a higher capacity for understanding. But too often, a lack of capacity shuts off the flow of potential on way to a joyous future. Shepherd Consulting is a response to 'restore all leadership parties' under a common banner of shared mission.
